2002 Easton Film Festival

The first annual Easton Film Festival screening and awards ceremony was held June 15, 2002 at the Martin Institute at Stonehill College. There were 22 entries. Congratulations to all of the winners and members of the community who submitted films. Wonderful effort on everyone's submittal!

"Effie" Award Winners:

The awards included gift certificates to The Camera Company of Norwood.

1st Place ($1500 Gift Certificate)

Untitled -- Melinda Pollard
A couple's arguing results in a car accident that changes their lives.

2nd Place (tie)($800 Gift Certificate)

French and Indian War -- Ben Del Guercio
A documentary film on the French and Indian War with excerpts filmed at Borderland State Park.

2nd Place (tie)($800 Gift Certificate)

Heavy -- Michael Johnson
A film about the band, Last Step. Interviews with the four band members on how they view the music industry.

3rd Place ($200 Gift Certificate)

The Waitress -- Tara Fisher
A tribute to silent films. The film recreates the feel of a black and white short. Starring Tatum Harvey in the title role and Alan Van Epps as Moxey, a man with a plan.

The following special awards were also presented for merit:

Juror's Award

Borderland Our Backyard -- Tatiana Santos
A look at wildlife programs and youth activities at Borderland State Park.

Honorable Mention

Honoring Easton's Veterans of World War II -- First Semester History Class of Edmund C. Hands, OAHS
A slide show on film showing those veterans who left high school before graduating. They received honorary diplomas in a special ceremony held at Oliver Ames High School.

Special Recognition Awards

Lights, Camera, Action! How to Make a Movie -- Lauren Maggio
A short feature film on how to edit and create a movie.

Star Gem -- Ian McCahill
A science fiction movie about the quest for energy.
